About
From their website:Dallas-based rock band Valentino got their start in October 2004, when four long-time friends from different musical backgrounds suddenly found themselves without a band at the same time. The result was the harmonious blend of indie rock, blues and punk that has made Valentino a local favorite.
After gaining attention in the local music scene for their eclectic sound and ability to mesmerize a crowd, the four-piece rock 'n' roll group began traveling to music venues across the state. Valentino recently shared the stage with notable Texas-based rockers Los Lonely Boys in their home-town of San Angelo.
Valentino's debut album, Joliet, is scheduled for release in February 2006. This dynamic and soulful collection of songs was born from the group's passion for making music that truly captures listeners.
"We want to play music that is powerful," said vocalist Paul Ramon. "But to me, a powerful song is more than just a great sound. It has to have meaning and depth. I think people can identify with that."
Ramon is both expressive and captivating. His voice ranges from grating to melodic and has been known to draw a crowd. His musical journey has included sharing a ticket with California punk icons The Offspring and with D-FW's The Burden Brothers. After leading a series of Lubbock bands, Ramon found his home with Valentino.
Billy Carter, a bassist with roots in rhythm and blues, provides a strong foundation for Valentino tunes. In his music career, Carter has opened for several noteworthy artists including Eric Sardinas, Joe Bonamassa and Indigenous. His versatility and passion for rock'n'roll made him the perfect addition to the group.
Guitarist Brian Boucher has been heavily influenced by Jimi Hendrix, Rich Robinson and Nick Drake. His raw talent and enthusiasm for performing have proved to draw attention to the band. Stirring and creative, Boucher's guitar-work plays a large part in making Valentino's sound so unique.
Jason Stiles has played the drums on and off for twelve years, but when the opportunity to join Valentino arose he quickly honed his ability. A diverse drummer, Stiles lists Morgan Rose, Chad Sexton and Mike Portnoy among his many personal influences. His powerful rhythms command attention and provide the stable backbone of Valentino.
Valentino is quickly building a fan-base through live shows, one listener at a time. The band's is album-release tour is scheduled for spring 2006.
