About

The Edge (KDGE) is a Clear Channel Communications station sitting at 102.1FM, playing primarily alternative rock, with a little bit of metal and pop thrown in for good measure. For the most part the format is popular mainstream rock, though they do occassionally throw in some local bands: Bowling for Soup, Drowning Pool, The Toadies, and The Vanished get some airplay. But then again, the first three aren't really local any more.

DJs

  • Lex and Terry - Morning show. Syndicated for those of us that don't care about supporting Dallas.
  • Chris Ryan - Member of Meat Hammer and host of the Flashback Cafe midday on The Edge.
  • Jesse - Has been very supportive of a few local bands. She went to Iraq with Drowning Pool in support of our troops.
  • Ayo - MySpace
  • Josh - Has hosted The Adventure Club since 1994, the show plays lots of British and American indie, old and new punk, local, and oldies.

Edgefest

Edgefest is the yearly mega-concert put on by the Edge. It naturally falls on one of the hottest days of the year, so you can join thousands of your smelliest friends in idol worship of the biggest mainstream alternative bands in the states. Edgefest 15 in 2006 featured: Staind, Trapt, Shinedown, Three Days Grace, Evan's Blue, Flyleaf, Hoobastank, Hawthorne Heights, Seether, The Toadies, Blue October, Buckcherry, Drowning Pool, Revelation Theory, 30 Seconds to Mars, Paranoid Social Club, Atryu, 10 Years, and Nonpoint.

The Dallas Observer had a nice article blasting Edgefest. Some years they have a local stage to support their home market, but this is not one of those years. Hunter Hauk wrote a review of Edgefest 16. He didn't seem to have much fun.
