Our story is simple we are all five strong yet different in our own walks of life, but when we all met we form the super entity that is MUGZU! Starting in 1994 MUGZU began as a thrash rock band, learning to playour instruments through grunge and hair metal. As a strong three piece consisting of guitar, bass and drums the band was lacking in the way of eclecticism. The three piece took on a burly Brit strait off the boat, and prepared him for his American glory! As front man he began to lead the group to the now climax. We worked through the early years of musical engineering digging deep into musical history and refining a sound that is completely full and powerful. When we arrived at our creation we evolved and headed to a new city to display our energy to a fresh new crowd. While still defining our sound MUGZU created a small fan base and began to play show after show after
show. In 1999 MUGZU acquired a new addition on bass and rotated the task of playing guitar, while maintaining all four original members. The sound rapidly came to life and was complete.
We are MUGZU, our own sound that can not be compared nor defined, we are simply the products of the music that we grew up listening to, we are products of the people that surround our lives and the cities that we live in, and we are products of the emotions that they all bring with them. Our music is played with passion and emotion, we play every show like it is our last and never hold We are heavy, loud and unpredictable but when we are all together we are working, and firing creating the sound of a heavy machine pumping out steel. This type of music has been around for years and will be around for many more to come, although we as a band try to redefine the term metal with our crunching sounds, driving beats, undulating tones, and last but not least our stage show. We aren't defined by clothes, attitudes or eyeliner, but we are defined by our lifestyles and our commitments to create music that combats our daily lives. We don't carry egos on our shoulders because we have learned from the many strong lessons that we've been dealt in life. Most people at first choose not to listen to or understand our music because we aren't Indie rock or main stream radio, and that is OK with us. It is OK because it merely fuels us to try harder, and to prove our non-structured posse. On the other hand many people who would not typically be seen at a heavy venue are showing up for our performances, and rocking out with the best of them. We believe you don't have to dress or act like someone your not to create hostile music. Besides as a band, we're more seething then most of the crybabies that call themselves hardcore nowadays. This is leading us to believe that we are creating something new and crossing the lines between different genres of music fans, breaking down barriers and opening this type of music for everyone to listen to and enjoy.
