At the risk of sounding cliche, the DORIS sound is hard to classify. DORIS can appeal to Punk, Rock, and Metal audiences but the band itself cannot be easily categorized. So with that in mind envision the alternative rock sound of the nineties, sprinkled with a little classic 70's rock and some modern punk/metal. In September 2005 we recorded 5 songs at Maximedia Studios in Dallas, so have a listen here or on our website dorisband.com.
The roots of DORIS started back in 1997 when Andy and Rick began playing in various bands together in The Colony, Texas. In 2002, Rick and Andy decided to start a new project and began to search for a bass player. After many futile attempts in the recruiting process, Mike stepped in as temporary relief while maintaining his own band. Mike became a permanent member of DORIS when his band called it quits in fall of 2003 and has now moved over to guitar. DORIS made its live debut in November 2003 and continues to grow a following by playing live shows featuring original alternative/punk/rock sounds. Our search for a full time bass player has ended with the addition of Kevin to the band. We would like to thank our friend Amanda from Panic Value for helping us with bass duties for the last few months. Couldn't have done it without her!
