10010: Hackers are Morons (A Commentary)

By: Citadel
Lately in the Dalnet in the hackers channels, a certain attitude has set into the minds of hackers (or at least the few that come in), an attitude/ideology that's just as stupid and moronic like the people that portray it. This attitude is made up of poderistic feelings towards people and mates. If you are not using an unix clone os, and/or using ircii with "cool" scripts and addons, then you don't deserve to be a hacker and are condemned forever. This has been true lately as, when I come into the hacker channels a flood of "CTCP VERSION's" fly out at me by people who have nothing nothing better to do but to compare themselves to the Ops and check their "coolness status". I'm so sick of this. Just becuase I used Win95 for a while, I'm not a hacker? According to this ideology, I'm not. And I'm not defending Win95, which is one of the worst OS's I've ever tried, but I still don't understand how could using Win95 hamper my quest for knowledge (the quest of hacker?). Of course, my voice doesn't count, because I used Win95 becuase my Linux setup was messed up. Well, I don't mind feeding the fake power, to these power tripping morons, and of course THEY use ircii. Elite indeed.
