01110: The Truth on the ACPS?
By: CitadelIn June '96, one of my favorite teachers, a Mr. Lancto was "suspended" and fired by the Alexandria City Public School School Board on grounds that he downloaded indecent material on the internet and showed it to a student. Back then the ACPS didn't have any policies at all on anything to do with the internet. Many students were surprised at the news of Lancto's demise. Most students, me including, protested on why we couldn't see him. The principal came in and said only that, "Mr. Lancto has resigned from the ACPS system and is now, no longer teaching here." The principal did not disclose any further information towards the matter. (I later found out the truth through various sources and Lancto himself over email.)
My suspicions grew as sources indicated to me that Lancto only downloaded a "dirty joke", and for this he gets fired? Evrybody knew that Lancto's liberal views towards the school policies and the ACPS in general. He, in several cases brought upon the school, many complaints regarding the school's way of doing things. The school's guidance office was tired of his complaints, the principal was tired of his complaints, and maybe the school board was tired of his complaints. Did Lancto get fired strategically by the ACPS? We will never know until full details of his "resignation" are brought out by the ACPS.
