00101: A little philo-thang

Greetz...
A couple of years ago I had a flash of insight, that I will try to pass on
to you ppl today.

Basically, our lifes consists of two things, memories and hopes/expectations/anticipations for the future. But hey... you think: What about the present? Well friend... think of it like this: What is the present? It's like the tip of a mountain, of which the past lies on one side and the future on the other side. The present is just the very tip of the mountain, but the problem is, it's razor sharp... to talk in time terms, what is the present, is it today? this hour? this minute? this second? this 1/1000 of a second? Your guess is as good as mine, but my gut feeling leans towards timeslices well below those of any modern multitasking operating system. Just consider the fact that the brain recives over 100 million impulses every second, maybe the present is just one of those impulses at the time, which means that when you feel something, like I feel the gentle touch of my Keytronics keyboard, the moment has already passed... Soooo, the present is constantly avoiding you, and can not be "caught" as many people will tell you to do.

Where does that leave us? Well, as the future is unknown, the only substantial thing you have to show for your life is memories of the past, and you probably don't remember too much of it either. What I am getting at is something of a twist on the familiar theory (which I forgot the name and inventor of) that if a cat for example, is put in a box, and that box has a device with a 50/50 chance of killing the cat with poisonous gas, the cat will not really be dead or alive until you open the box and find out for yourself.

In this case, I am telling you that if you don't remember a particular event from the past, then it does not exist in your own world. Er... did I forget to tell you about my "own world" theory...? darn. Well here it is in short: We all live in seperate worlds, in your own world, you set the rules and the standard of which everything is compared. What is right and wrong in your world is not the same as what is right and wrong in my world. Meaning that we will have conflicts when our worlds touch, which they do right now, when you read something that I have written, or if you talk to me on IRC.

How do I come up with all this crap, you are probably wondering right now? Well, I am not sure what I was under the influence of at the time, but it was probably not worse than alcohol. Instead of rejecting this theory immediately, because it is somewhat different, try to see the implications and try to take the action needed to fix all the problems you can immediately see that this imposes on our daily life. The classic example is the everlasting male/female problem. When was the last time you understood completely what your girl/boyfriend told you? If you think you understand everything he/she says, wake up! You don't... and you are not read to take in this theory, so go play with your legos and come back in ten years.

So what we need to do is to realize that we don't understand each other, we don't understnad what the other person says, means, feels or wants. 'Nuff said.

Back to the original theory, if you still can follow me on this one... If you don't remember that a thing happened, it did in fact not happen, in your world. This only holds water at 100% however, if you did not touch another world on your way. If you did, there will be traces of your actions left in the other worlds, but it will be just the same, it never have happened in your own world. So, if something never happened, surely you can't feel bad about it? Of course not, unless you are a softy about what happens in other peoples worlds... and that should mostly be avoided, depending on what your aims are in life... of course... living by this theory alone won't exactly get you laid my friend. Other people can be soooo inconsiderate of your personal belifs sometimes, you just have to adjust yourself down to their level to get on some kind of friendly foot with them. Basically it is up to you: Sacrifice your personal freedom and integrity... or get laid, as a metaphor for all the basic positive interaction with other people that you might possibly want to conduct. End of lesson.

Wow... a load of rambling from a partly insane mind... but what the heck? After all... this is how MY world works... mwhuhahahahaha...
