It is important because it has to do with astronomy: 4320 is the amount of years it takes the sun to make a processional shift through two zodiacal constellations. Thus, 432 and its derivative numbers 216 and 864 play important roles in world mythology.

The Hindus

• The Hindu religious text, the Rig Veda, has each stanza arranged so that the stanza has 432,000 syllables, no more, no less. (The Rig Veda is the longest religious text in the world, consisting of huge poetic stanzas.)
  
• Each age of the world in Hindu mythology is called a "Day of Brahma," and lasts 4,320,000,000 years. Then there is a world deluge and the resulting chaotic period is called a "Night of Brahma," and also lasts 4,320,000,000 years, for a grand total of 8,640,000,000 years.
