01011: Eat Your Vegetables!

If one is to observe the failure of modern society and the subsequent degeneration of "Thinking Man" (that is, Homo Sapiens) to superstitious substance-addled hedonist, one notices a disturbing trend in the causes thereof: the nominal denial of emotion and embrasure of reason accompanied by the subjugation of order to emotion.

What do I mean by this? Let us take an example from "contemporary" American life; the dinner conversation. With the seemingly innocuous statement "No dessert until you eat your vegetables," we see a fatal flaw in the development of the children thus admonished.

The children admonished thus learn four major fallacies:

  1. To falsely elevate a thing of pleasure (the dessert) to a higher status than necessary. This is a "forbidden fruit" syndrome and I feel it can be attributed to the Judeo-Christian religion. But I will expound later. On to fallacy number
  2. The vegetables (the object of less physical pleasure but more beneficial hitherto) are demonized and as such, viewed as a thing to be suffered to merit a reward.
  3. The children are thus elevated into a position of power (by choosing whether or not to eat the vegetables). They are seen as the hero and in control of their destiny (which, as children, they are not). Such "elevation of child" in stark face of parents' overt power leads to resentment and continuation of the cyclical dysfunction in future generations.
  4. Rather than take the time to explain the benefits of vegetables, to foster a desire for self-betterment, (which my parents thankfully did), the parents of said child feed upon primal emotions such as fear, hunger, desire (for pleasure), etc. Such "emphasis on emotion" scars the child irreparably, shown via the fact that the parents (scarred so in their own youth) would even conceive of such a primal scare tactic.

This tactic scars for life, as previously said; the child becomes a hedonist with the impatient mind set of a child. The child-adult unnecessarily (via self-imposition) suffers life for fleeting physical pleasure (i.e., drugs, alcohol, sex, self-endangerment) made alluring purely through it's rarity or being forbidden. Of course the child-adult is unrewarded, plus sans beneficial effects, resentful toward parents and authority, and childish enough to corrupt one's own child in the same fashion. Example: the Baby Boomers of post-WWII/'60's fame.

What, then, causes the corruption of "modern" man? It is my belief that the underlying cause is the fundamental corruption of Western society (!) which dates back to the Jews and to the Greeks. Both were societies which gave power to the people in a tribalistic format (out of a basic primate desire of safety in numbers). Such democratization allowed the baser elements of hedonism (hitherto associated with dregs and outcasts) to become tenets of tradition. Both cultures sensed, but alas, did not identify the source of said corruption. Measures were taken, through religion and reason respectively, to combat the situation. Without a target, however, it turned out that everything but said corruption was questioned and doubted and finally put "on probation" with values and morals. Mistake number two! For these values "reasoned" that everything not suspect was good and pure; the only thing not suspect was the actual corruption itself, and so it was seen as good and "traditional"!

Several corrupt empires rose and fell, with no consequence to the mainly pastoral world. However, with the advent of the Roman empire, these two schools of corruption melded into one. The resulting quibbling over details and semantics (free will vs. predestination, reason vs. faith) led to an even more widespread corruption. How? Because confused thinkers the empire over turned to the only thing they "knew" (actually the corruption!)

The size of the empire allowed this corruption to be diffused through Europe, Asia, Africa . . . all the time confusing and degenerating the people in its influence. Thus the people were thoroughly confused and corrupted and, in any case, glad to see the approach of Christianity.

Christianity . . . correctly sensing the laws as corrupt, it attempted to overthrow them . . . but with what? Alas, with rules and traditions and laws of its own. It was this fatal flaw which caused Christianity to be "absorbed" into the Roman corruptocracy and be proudly displayed by the powers-that-be of the time as "the clean new face of Rome." This was done to please the masses, who could sense but not identify the malaise, the miasma of corruption. (This is a response exactly like the Greeks and Jews'.) In truth Christianity changed NOTHING; to wit, the corrupt sting of Christianity has been increased by the Black Death and its' "scare tactic" into believing, disguised by the Enlightenment and the Age of Reason, and made nearly worthless (-but nominally, only in name! -) as the second millennium approaches.

What makes Christianity so corrupting? Because it, too, fits the dinner-table litmus test. The "ice cream" of heaven is played against the "vegetables" of earthly life, with a "child-empowering" need to choose between heaven and hell under the watchful "parental eye" of God. If resentment toward God and disillusionment with the ice cream of heaven is not bad enough, we see an emotion-based propaganda campaign: i.e., the incentive to believe is fear of eternal damnation and pain vs. desire for divine pleasure. Christianity is, thus, a mealtime utterance of profound size.

Jesus Christ should have made TV dinners.

Hedonism and anarchy are prevalent in this world partially through the intervention of several "powers-that-be"; that is, the most powerful people in the world. To wit, Christianity has served well as the opium of the masses (of course real opium was also used to keep the populace in line). However, after the Enlightenment, Christianity and other corrupt traditions have been counterbalanced against the romantic ideals of freedom, anarchy, hedonism (cf. the 60's), equally corrupt in its own right.

Thus we see how the entire "conservative-liberal" cycle is really just a way to vary the corruption we are forced to live with. So both the liberals and the conservatives are amoral bastards. Think about it.
