As a Writer

As a writer I should understand the power of words, for they are my element, my craft, my tool and weapon. I should know their power, and be careful with their use. But it's not until their poisoned tips are aimed at me do I realize at last their power for destruction. Acid-laced honesty coating me, burning into me, making me quiver in pain. Whether truth or vile lies, the hurt caused is still deep. As they say, the pen is mightier than the sword. It never seemed so true until words fit to be fashioned into a slanderous diatribe target you.
