01000: Tell Me Something New and Different

By: Mike Farahbakhshian

Tell me something new and different
the last intimate twitches of a dying idea

let me play god for a moment and breathe life into an ideological carcass
challenge me
tease me
please me

stretch your bounds of vision
tear at the sinews of thought and speculation
until you can see the future
or the past
it doesn't matter, can't you see?

joints crack, wishes worn smooth like overused similes
exercise your desires until you desire the exercise

think like me
be like me

shock me into believing in apostasy
blasphemy
heresy

tell me something new and different
i won't be afraid
i want to think differently
i want to think laterally
when there's no way to go but up, try to force your way sideways

my life is a battle between
the shortest distance between points A and B
the path of least resistence
and the road less travelled

ego id and superego crush each other's bones in a melee of epic proportions
someone throw the towel
the fight's over
lets go kayaking

tell me something new and different
tell me something i'm not sick of listening to
tell me the world is flat and that salamanders never die
deliver me from cassiopeia's urbane blight

for god's sake

tell me something new and different
