00100: ode to a disgruntled postal worker

By: Mike Farahbakhshian

artichokes and canteloupes
renegades and misanthropes
fruits and nuts whose lives are ruts
and who calls who insane?

twenty children are gunned down
minorities brutally beaten down
if we all live in the same town
what happened in Dunblane?

do they really think us fools
life's hard knocks become our schools
what happened to majority rule
when decency's aflame?

a bullet here, a missile there
every so often, a bomb scare
those terrorists are in our hair
'but we still feel your pain?'

lives of shadow, lives of greed
money's really all we need
with money you can spread your seed
Let it pour down like rain!

when life is just 'fuck or be fucked'
we curse the system, curse our luck
and quickly try to pass the buck
can you ever hope to gain?

your actions bold but never cold
the story shown but truth untold
(until the movie rights are sold)
you seem to bring us shame!

but let me say once and for all
you remind us quite how far to fall
perhaps we shouldn't stand so tall
humanity's to blame...

and one day when we're dead and gone
you, my good friend, the Powers' pawn
the one who spilt blood in our dawn
will see this was a game --

and who's to win? and who's to lose?
you broke our hearts, but you we used
and no one here would walk in your shoes
though you first saw us wane...

dragged to jail or put to death
i know that with your final breath
you put our delusions to the test
that all we need is fame.
