Cold Air Induction Install
My wife's Dodge Charger has lots of power. But I wanted more. So I decided to install a new cold air induction kit and throttle body spacer from Airaid.
The basic concept of a cold air induction is that colder air is denser and mixes with fuel better. So sucking in hot air from underneath the hood robs your engine of horsepower. The stock air filter boxes are very restrictive, allowing less air to even reach the filter. Cold air induction uses a big cone filter that is more open, allowing an engine to suck down much more air.
A throttle body spacer is supposed to make the air stream into the engine denser. The spin that it gives the stream is supposed to allow fuel to mix better with the air.
Installation:
First, I had to remove the beauty shield, and disconnect the old air intake system.
The throttle body spacer slid about an inch into the engine's air intake, and then the tube that goes to the air filter attaches to that.
