From their website:What is Buzz-Oven?
Buzz-Oven is a col·lec·tive (ke-lek'tiv)
An undertaking, such as a business operation, set up on the principle of ownership, control and distribution by the workers involved.
Buzz-Oven Objective
A grass-roots movement set up by music fans to deliver talented new music to the ears, eyes and minds of a new generation of music fans. As commercial radio becomes less diverse, the opportunity for young music fans to get involved in their own music scene has become even harder. Very few young people are exposed to the wealth of talented bands that exist in their hometowns. Most bands that become radio favorites spend up to ten years playing concerts and recording music before their music is heard by a younger audience. Buzz-Oven's mission is to enhance traditional methods of music distribution and bring it straight to the fans themselves as it is happening.
Who makes up Buzz-Oven?
Anyone willing to get involved in their local music scene can join our collective. Our staff is made up of young music fans (buzzers) who are eager to spread good music throughout their community.
How does it work?
Three times a year, the Buzz-Oven staff will scour the local music scene of a particular city to find three up and coming bands to feature on a Buzz-Oven CD sampler. Selected bands will donate two songs to the compilation which will be manufactured 10 thousand strong. Then the "buzz" begins. Our team of buzzers hit the street to spread the Buzz-Oven gospel. Armed with a backpack full of Buzz-Oven CDs, they'll hit every high school, college, coffee shop, pizza joint, skate park, mall and any other public place where a younger audience can be found, giving away the CDs for FREE and letting people know what's cookin' in the Buzz-Oven. But the fun doesn't stop there... after two months of street marketing, Buzz-Oven will hold a series of all ages concerts where you will get to see every band do what they do best... perform live. The Dallas/Ft. Worth music scene is so full of talented bands that we have started our mission here.

Philosophy
Most national bands that you hear on the radio spent anywhere form 3 to 10 years building a local following by playing clubs and releasing their own music before they got their big break. What nobody thinks about is that these bands were just as good before they got their break... the only thing that changed for them was their level of exposure.
Do you know what that means? That means that huge Dallas bands like The Toadies, Eisley, The Vanished, The Burden Brothers, and Bowling For Soup were all right here in our backyard playing shows and rocking out for years before you heard them on the radio. If you were in high school at that time, what are the chances you would have known they even existed?
The answer is slim to none. The crowds that these bands spend years cultivating is limited to those old enough to meet age restrictions at bars. The ironic thing is that when a Dallas band does get a break and has a single on the radio, their first show in their hometown is packed with teens who are seeing them for the first time. Isn't this crazy? These teens could have been enjoying these same bands for the past 3 to 5 years if only they were exposed to it sooner.
That is the where Buzz-Oven bridges the gap. Why wait for a great band to get discovered by somebody in a suit when you could be discovering them right now? We put the music directly into your hands and let YOU discover bands that are playing in your town several times a month and selling CDs at local record stores. The talent is there, you just haven't heard it yet.
There is SO much great talent in our music scene that it deserves exposure now! The people missing out on it are our teenagers who also happen to be the most excited about music. It is a cause worth fighting for and a team worth building. Plus we have alot of fun doing it!
