About
From her biography from Rocket Girl's site:April Samuels is a hard-hitting, mind-numbing, aggressive drummer/percussionist/coffee junkie and and admits to having 14 pairs of Converse High tops.
April picked up her first pair of sticks at age five and was enthralled in private drum lessons by the age of 11 studying under former Bo Diddley/Ice Capades/Fifth Dimension drummer Warren White. Later she would continue her music education at the University of North Texas.
During April's career, she has participated in multiple festivals spanning across the US - from LA to NYC, from Chicago to Louisville, just to name a few. As a member of Frognot, she co-wrote several songs that are included in various episodes of the Discovery Channel show "Outward Bound" as well as three songs with her former band East of Eden, that were released in an independent film called "Lethal Betrayal" (aka "Lethal Seduction"). Many songs she contributed to have received numerous amounts of airplay: regionally, nationally and worldwide. In addition, April has performed live numerous times on Dallas' 102.9 as well as several times on Dallas' Good Day Dallas television show on Fox. Other highlights include: performing on the side stage at Smirnoff before Phish and performing with Bow Wow Wow as well as Linda Perry (4 Non-Blondes).
Samuels cites her drumming influences as Sean Phillips (Sister 7), Carter Beauford (Dave Matthews), Taylor Hawkins (Foo Fighters) and Matt Chamberlain (Tori Amos).
